Isaiah, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, says to Ahaz: “Is it not enough to try the patience of men? Must you also influence the patience of God? Since you don't ask for a sign, a sign shall be given to you anyway. The Virgin shall be with child, and she will give birth, and they will call him Emmanuel, which means God with us.” This was about 700 years before the coming of Christ, that it was fortold that the Messiah would be born of a virgin.
