Therese talks about receiving the grace to understand, more than ever before, how much Jesus desires to be loved. She doesn’t feel attracted like the spirituality of the time was emphasizing, to offer herself as a sacrifice to the justice of God; she wanted to offer herself as a sacrifice to the merciful love of God and to be consumed by that love. On Trinity Sunday of 1895, she makes what she calls an act of oblation to merciful love, an act of sacrificial offering to merciful love. |
