From the Blessed Mother herself. “Mary kept all these things, pondering them in her heart.” Mary is contemplating all of these seemingly extraneous details and then shares them with others; in this case, with Luke. This is consistent with ancient tradition, but it’s also consistent with careful literary analysis. |
