More wisdom from Scott Hahn

We were all taking John 6:53 figuratively [when I was Protestant]. We don’t literally eat his flesh or drink his blood. But if Jesus was only speaking figuratively, it would’ve been very easy to say, ‘Guys, I’m only using a figure of speech. C’mon.’ But I noticed that isn’t what Jesus did. But that’s exactly what Jesus would’ve had to do if that’s all he meant. He says four times to this huge crowd, ‘Eat my flesh and drink my blood’ and suddenly it’s no longer a huge crowd. Most of them leave him that day.
