Wisdom from Dr. Michael Barber

It’s important to recognize that the Bible teaches us the truth! And so, when we read about the events of the life of Christ, for example, we don’t have to wonder: “did that really happen? Or is that just a myth?” What we know is that the Gospels teach us the truth about Jesus. In fact, Dei Verbum, Vatican II, says that the Gospels teach us what Jesus really did and taught. Not some of the things Jesus might’ve said if we had a better understanding of what He had said. Not some of the kinds of things Jesus said. The Gospels teach us what Jesus really did and taught. How beautiful is that, how wonderful is that, for us to have that confidence, to know, that the Gospels teach us the truth, the honest truth, about Jesus.
