John is saying that we notice that life is short, that we have to give an accounting to God, that the way that leads to destruction is wide and it’s easy to go that way, that the way that leads to life is narrow, that the time is short, that the day is already far advanced and our life is already down the track a good ways, and that we really need to devote ourselves now to the one thing necessary—which is finding the Beloved, obeying him, joining ourselves to him, and doing his will. |
